My EXCELLENT day, incl. new digital extended version of ALIEN!!
Edited on Sun Nov-02-03 03:26 AM by Rabrrrrrr
It was awesome!! When the movie came out, I was in 8th grade, so had to settle for reading the book and never saw it on the big screen until tonight!

But first - had a good day hanging out cleaning at home, posting a pic of my duck diaper pins on my pajamas. Then went down to Union Square for green market. While down there, I thought, "Hey - let's see what's playing at the theater!" I've been so busy at the hospital, I really have no idea what's going in the world of entertainment. So I get there, and I see that the digital remaster with additional scenes of ALIEN is playing. And I see a poster for a new movie, "Human Stain", which I never heard of, but I see it has Anthony Hopkins (one of my fave actors!) and what's her name (Not impressive as an actress but HOT!) so I say to myself, "Rabrrrrrr, this day, which you purposely did not plan out, just got itself a plan".

So I did Human Stain (Excellent!! And Kidman is really turning into a phenomenal actress - very impressive. And Hopkins, of course, acted in his perfect way. Ed Harris was excellent, too). Then I went to barnes and Noble and hung out for a bit, then out to dinner for a big plate of sushi (yum!), then off to the 11 pm showing of ALIEN. Great audience for it, too - I think I was the oldest one there. I was feeling old on the way in, thinking, "Wow - I was in 8th grade when this came out." But I felt older later when the theater filled up, because I was one of the oldest ones there. I bet that out of the audience, 95% weren't born, or weren't out of diapers, when the movie came out first. And I have a feeling a lot of them had never seen it before, because there was lots of screaming and being scared and surprised at all the stuff, which made the experience so much more enjoyable! The whole theater seemed to be together as one during the show, which when it happens, is a real treat. I experienced that before with the opening show of Fellowship of the Ring, the Star Wars audience at the Ziegfled when Lucas sent the remade ones around back in '97, and the sneak preview of Attack of the Clones at the Ziegfeld.

And when I came home this morning about 2:45, lo and behold, the filtherhood has actually been quiet! No insanely loud salsa parties, no idiots out in the street blasting salsa on their car stereos or boomboxes. We have a bunch of idiots out on the sidewalk hanging out and yelling at each other in the normal speaking voices, but I don't mind that. At least there's no subwoofer, no chicka chicka chicka of the drums or guitar sounds. It's actually tolerable! So I stay in a good mood!
