I grew up in Buffalo Grove, and by the time I hit college, my dad was so fed up with the synagogue, he stopped going. My mom didn't want to go alone, so she "attended" High Holiday services by watching them on TV.

5. Here in St Louis there is a three hour block of time on

charter cable every Sunday afternoon for Jewish Television or something like that. It's on a cable access channel. They have shows like the Charney Report and a show with Esther Jungreiss (an orthodox writer and wife of a rabbi). There is also a Hasidic show. Most of the shows appear really old and not up to date at all.

Also, according to widely held myth, Jews control the media so why should there be a separate Jewish only channel?

Yeah right...that's why there are so many Christmas shows every November and December.

I wish there was a Jewish channel a la TBN or the Catholic channel. I would love to see modern and up to date talk shows from a Jewish perspective. Trouble is, many Jews in the media and upper eschelons of Hollywood are extremely assimilated and want to get as far away from being too Jewish.
