"Confucius Say" Politically Incorrect?
Would it be offensive to publish a collection of Confucius Say jokes on the web? For example, "Confucius Say: Man who stand on toilet high on pot", and that sort of thing?

Also, what about Arabian curses, like, "May a thousand sand fleas have intercourse in your sleeping bag" and all that?

I want to do some random quote stuff.

Thanks for input.

1. You know one thing I will never adopt from the liberal/progressive
movement is the whole PC thing.

Just freakin do it as far as I'm concerned if everyone could just make jokes about themselves or let others do it in a tasteful fashion (let's not get outright racist or bigoted) then we'd all be happier.

3. The reason I don't make those kinds of cultural jokes . . .
Edited on Sun Jun-19-05 12:43 AM by Heidi
is because I can rarely find an equivalent joke for my own general culture: white, upper-middle class liberal American woman. There sure must be something ironic or funny about my own cultural background, but since I never hear those jokes, I'm not going to subject other cultural groups to that sort of stereotyping.

(Edited for misplaced apostrophe.)

5. Too funny!
Nope, but I'm one of those unkempt, tie-dye appreciating, artsy-fartsy, Birkies-wearing, white upper-middle-class liberal American women.

9. You're right.
My point is that, in our culture and particulary in these political times, many find it easier and more entertaining to make jokes about others' cultures. I need only watch my husband dance to be reminded there our culture offers a wealth of humor. ;)
