I got an overpayment notification from NFM Corp. Consumer Advocacy
Services. They said my monthly overpayment is $92.36

Is this a scam or does this orginization have good intentions? Anyone know about this?

1. Do you work for them? Are they affiliated with your employers? How
would they have this information otherwise?

Or are they a mortgage company trying to pique your interest in order to get your mortgage business?

2. I don't work for them. They are not affiliated with my employer
The letter says:

Monthly Overpayment: $92.36

It's not possible for us to help you recover your overpayment, but thanks to a government program designed to protect FHA homeownder, you may be entitled to dkip your next mortgage payment and reduce the amount you pay for the rest of its term.

Before the consumer advocates assigned to your case can act, you must call us with this file locator:

Mortgage lenders often expect that homeowners won't take action and will continue to overpay for their homes. We look forward to taking action on your behalf.

4. Looks like a scam to me. Mortgage companies are trying all kinds
of tricks to get people to switch to their mortgage company... and not all of them are on the up and up.

Get some one who knows about mortgage rates to look over your mortgage and see if you are in fact overpaying on the interest. If so, then that amoount should be applied to your principal... Talk to your mortgage company if this is happening. If they refuse to take the amount off the principal, then see a lawyer.

I doubt that this is happening, though.
