I gave blood today...What did you do for humanity!?
Edited on Wed Jun-08-05 07:04 PM by YellowRubberDuckie
Yeah, I gave blood today at work. And I got the the chick that wasn't very good at sticking the needle in, and she had to root around a lot. It was a very painful experience. Now I'm sleepy and a little weak. I ate really well, and now I'm resting in the cool. I didn't think about it, but I really shouldn't have given blood then drove home in the heat. I do not have AC in my car.

4. I didn't give blood today.
And given the longterm problems I've had with bone marrow, humanity is more grateful than they know.

7. I'm afraid I haven't done much for humanity today.
The only blood I gave was at the dentist's office (I had a root canal this morning).

8. Hey, me too!
but my experience was fine. The tech was skilled and fortunately, giving blood doesn't affect me much.

I'm glad you feel better!

16. I helped with the search for a missing 7-year-old girl
who turned up in her sister's car; she had told her granny she was going out with the sister, but the granny either didn't hear or didn't remember.

But at least I did my part thrashing through the woods.

21. Yeah, and it doesn't matter if all you've ever had was protected sex.
They still say NO.
And what's funny is a lot of women trade sexual favors for whatever they want. It's called marriage! LOL

19. I didn't give blood today, but I got poked with too many needles.
I had a physical today for my nursing clinicals that I start in a couple of months- tetanus shot, finger stick for hematocrit, and blood drawn for cholesterol check and mumps titer.

It'll help me serve humanity. I have given blood. Sometimes I end up with this weird vagal nerve thing and get kind of faint-like. I've learned eating big meals beforehand helps. Feel better. You did a good thing. :)

I've been doing bimonthly donations since 9/11. Today was my day.

By the way, sometimes one arm is better for this than the other--my right arm's a gusher, and I can usually dump a pint in 5 minutes. My left arm, on the other hand, seems to have a valve or something right where they want to stick the needle in, and has a way of just sort of pooping out. I was on the table for 45 minutes the last time I tried the left arm, with all the attendant rooting around, etc. That sucked.

Then there was the time the nurse slipped the needle in, turned away, snagged the tube on her belt and pulled out the needle... proving once again that "OH SHIT!" is not something you want to hear from a nurse. :nuke:

Does that help?

But the day is not over yet. SO I am not out of the woods.
