Uterine cancer.

I am sick to the core of my being. She was my muse and I can't even bloody believe what my ears are hearing. This cannot, cannot possibly be true. It took an hour, but now I'm finally bawling my eyes out. I think it was preferable to be numb. I've loved her since I was 13 years old, my Anne B. collection is huge.

Gasp.

It was time for a new avatar anyway.

Seriously, as I stated elsewhere at DU, this wonderful actress is the entire reason I became an actress instead of a veterinarian! Earlier today at DU I was complaining about wasting 20 years of my life in showbiz, despite my modest success, because at the end of the day, you can't say that you have done anything real with your life, something that really helps others. And yet I'm sitting here thinking about how Anne Bancroft, even though I never met her, influenced me so much when I was a young girl, inspired me in so many ways.

It's been a mixed blessing, Anne.

Now I have to ruminate tonight and rethink my anti-showbiz rant from earlier today. Maybe, just maybe, it can be enough to know that you caused people to feel and to think outside of their comfortable lives, even if only for 2 hours. Sometimes -- maybe it's just one audience member -- the words are heard and a mind gets changed. Maybe. If that is true, then my life wasn't a waste after all. Am going to have to open up a bottle of Italian white wine tonight and think about this!

Sorry to run on, but I am sincerely devastated by this, and I never even knew her! I'm 13 years old again tonight.
