Does anyone here chat?
And I am totally embarrassed by that title line. Completely. It sounds SO dorky. And not even cool-dorky. Not even so dorky, it's funny. Just flat out sad-dorky.

Well, anyway, does anyone here chat? I have AIM. I know, I know, people hate it, but whatever.

Oh, nevermind.

4. Ok.
I will! And then how does a bigger chat get started? Wait, nevermind you said it already.

5. Well someone (usually CubsFan1982 or hippiepunk)
starts a chat room, and a thread and then you IM them for an invite to the chat room.

Or something like that. LOL!

Sadly, I don't think anyone is on AIM.

6. Well, for the hundreds of people that won't get invites, I think I'll
start a #du channel on irc.freenode.net just because.

7. IRC is still around?
Edited on Fri Jun-03-05 09:15 PM by Bouncy Ball
Wow, I used that in the early 90s.

Cool!

Edit, I tried that address and it doesn't work. http://irc.freenode.net. I also did it with the www.

Trying it with "us" now, since I found freenode page.

10. Well, you need to use an IRC client (or even your browser, if it has one
built in, chatzilla on Mozilla browsers, for example, or the IRC client extensions for Firefox).

irc://irc.freenode.net/#du should work if you have a client in your browser.

Otherwise, see if you have mirc, pirch, xchat, bitchx, or other client, depending upon your OS

14. Ok, well the channel will be there permanently if you or anyone else
want to stop in, once you can access IRC.

17. By the way, I totally forgot that my IM clients let you open an IRC
account. Yours might also.

16. Well, I know you can access IRC with GAIM, which is an IM client, so you
might try with your Instant Messaging client.

13. I do
I keep in touch with my family on AIM, it's not such a bad thing really, none of us have AO as an ISP but we can still all use the IM software, pc, linux or mac... doesn't matter.
