paints their nails all nice & pretty (though they're forever short) & then I don't look at them again for weeks. Yes, I have the nail polish dot in the middle of each nail right now. I'm such a slacker.

7. My polish NEVER chips. I've been wearing the same brand for 7 years
It's been my experience that "drug store" polishes are inferior, hence chipping. Try a better, professional-quality polish.

I buy my own polish, and take it to the salon with me. I keep it in the refrigerator between manicures, though I doubt that has anything to do with its wearability.

I wear nothing but Opi's Bogota Blackberry as my "signature color." IMO Opi is a good, high quality polish that really lasts.

14. OPI is great.
NARS is good, too. I can usually get a manicure to last several days with those. I have Bogota Blackberry! That was the color my toes were when I went the hospital having my second baby. One of the nurses commented on how pretty the color was.

15. My favorite OPI
colors are Taupeless Showgirls and Red, Red Rhine. But only for my toes. I wear the dramatic colors on my toes and soft pink or beige on my fingers.
OPI's Dutch Tulips is another good "toe" color.
My daughter loves "Not in Kansas Anymore" but it's hard to find. I bought it years ago and, of course, she stole it. It's a dark, brownish red.

23. Careful, Blue Need
if you go to Ulta, you'll spend more than you planned to...it's one of "those" stores. Like the book store and the art supply store. You just go in for one or two things, and then...Oh, well, I warned you.

8. I've been using Sally Hansen's 'Hard as Nails for 30 years
Edited on Fri Jun-03-05 04:03 PM by dmr
and won't use anything else. If I go to a salon, I take my polish with me.

Sally Hansen has a new product out now called "Hard As Wraps". You apply it to your nails before the polish. Believe me, my nails which tend to split and be soft are, well, now hard as wraps. What a great product this is!

I put that on, then the color polish, then the clear top coat.

The biggest problem I have is my nails growing and having to do them again. lol

10. Wouldn't you just know it?
I have a big bottle of that somewhere in the barn (if I can find it). My nails are so short but I usually go through a thing once a year or so when I get the urge to grow them out and do the polish thing. This is good to know since with my line of work it lasts about 3 hours.

16. While we're on beauty tips, here's one
Veet hair removal nousse. I know, I know. I've tried lotions before...Nair, Neet, etc. And they were generally fairly disgusting and didn't work well. I've always gone back to shaving. Which is such a drag. I bought some Veet and it works great. You smear it on and wait 3-6 minutes. There's a funny little non-razor which you use to test the removal. Five minutes works for me. Then, into the shower to rinse. It doesn't smell all that great. But it works and your legs are really smooth.
