Good Kitty! (pet training tips?)
Good Fritz! He took his inhaler treatment.

Daddy has asthma and he FIGHTS the inhaler. I need to learn to train him not to fight it. We give way too many treats for that to be a good enticement, I think.

What do you do to get your pets to take meds?

3. that's what I'd like to know!
Daddy HATES! it! On that site they show you how to do it but I think they presume a calm cat who's been trained from birth. I need to learn to calm Daddy.

only after I gave Blue her daily sub-Q fluids turned the bloody terrifying battle to a relaxing bonding experience complete with head-butts and purrs - yes purrs!

4. Wow.
That would work on Daddy. I hope he gets the picture, though, because giving the inhaler is for when he's having an attack, and so he's already terrified.

6. Wow, Fritz really _is_ brave . . .
as are his "companion humans." When I have to medicate our cate, I think I'm more nervous about it than he is. :scared:

8. I use baby food
When Amos needed to take antibiotics (which absolutely have to be given regularly and completely) I got him used to getting a little dollop of beef baby food after the medicine. After only a few doses, he would sit at attention as soon as he saw me with the eyedropper. The good thing about baby food is that it has no preservatives or additives.

9. that is so sad
I have never seen a poor cat have an asthma attack. it is scary enough with people. A cat must be terrified

Fritz is beautiful. His coat looks short and thick. What breed is he?

11. At least part Siamese. He looks an awful lot like our Petey (pic)
Edited on Thu May-26-05 10:27 AM by bertha katzenengel
Petey is a mutt. He has the coat and eyes of a Siamese, but the big, stocky body of a tomcat, and the sweet, mewling voice of a kitten. He is our sweetest cat.
