What the heck is this song about?
Let freedom ring
Let the white dove sing
Let the whole world know that today is the day of reckoning
Let the weak be strong
Let the right be wrong
Roll the stone away
Let the guilty pay
It’s Independence Day.

Well she lit up the sky
That 4th of July
By the time that the firemen come
They just put out the flames
And took down some names
And sent me to the county home

Mixes patriotic and rapture imagery. Kind of disturbing to think this is one of the most popular songs in America right now but I'm not sure I actually get it.

1. Actually-Hannity's theme is about a woman leaving an abusive relationship
Fitting huh?

Apparently McBride is a big Hannity fan.

4. I remember when this one was big
Back when I was in junior high and actually listened to primarily country music they played this one a lot. I remember that it's about an abusive husband whose wife (or maybe it's their daughter?) ends up burning down their house to stop from being hurt anymore.

The song was actually controversial when it first hit (1994, I think) and some country radio stations wouldn't play it because it was supposedly "too violent" or considered to be too much of a radical feminist anthem. I was shocked to discover that Martina McBride was a Hannity fan; I figured with a song like this as her breakthrough hit she couldn't be a FReeper. Even though most of her music sucks, I wouldn't have minded having another rare Democrat in the world of country music. She either has to be pretty conflicted to record and release a song like this while supporting the Republican party, or she simply doesn't belive in the songs she sings that others write for her.

5. "Let the right be wrong"
Am I the only one who thinks that's funny?
