5. Ah yes! The memories of red stained fingers!
Where I grew up they dyed the nut shells red.

16. We have always bought them unstained. Fun fact follows...
The unstained pistachios are higher grade. The red dye is used to hide flaws in lower-grade nuts. Learn something new every day, eh?

17. peanuts are not TRUE nuts.
They grow on the ground. Real nuts grow on trees. Or in Southern Baptist churches. That's why I'm safe eating my Reese's PB Cups. :9

21. Yes, you are correct. Neither are bull nuts real nuts.
They grow on bulls, and are served as rocky mountain oysters. Great with beer! Mmmmm.

18. My all time favs are pecans, cuz...
...we have 2 papershell pecan trees in the backyard, and I get a big cardboard boxful every fall. They are wonderful fresh. Flavors you just can't get when dried and store-bought. Also a big pecan pie fan!

25. I've done some serious taste testing, and....
while I like other nuts more for certain specialty purposes, it's really hard to beat the lowly almond. Go figger.
