1. No, I know where my first paycheck went.
To an oz. of Columbian, thank you, back in the day when it was so cheap that people didn't kill each other over pot...a zillion years ago...when dinosaurs roamed the Earth...and bongs were legal.

2. FICA?
Nobody told me about FICA.

It was a shock to see how little of my $21 a day I got to keep. (BTW, this was in late 1971, for you folks keeping score out there.)

:)

5. I remember multiplying the rate times the number of hours and then
being in shock. The good news- you finally have money of your own. The bad news- some of its gone before it ever gets near you.

3. I have that feeling still every time I get a paycheck
Thursday (payday) is the most depressing day of the week for me. I bring home less than half of what I gross, not because of taxes or anything like that but because I have the privilege of paying my scumbag ex-husband over $600 a month in child support (for a child he does not let me see). Now, mind you, I don't begrudge my son my support - but for my ex, this is not about our son - it's about getting under my skin.

Which it does. ~sigh~
