YaaaaaaaY!!!! It's Air Show Time Again!!!
:eyes:

We live right in the flight path of the base and, currently, the Blue Angels are having a SCCCREEEEEAAAAMINNNNGGG good time in the airspace directly above my house. The new neighbor panicked! It takes a couple of years to get used to...if you want to call it that.

I have to go this year. My daughter is working there with her C.A.P. wing. :hi:

1. Many, many years ago

My dad did maintenance for the "Blues" in Pensacola, FL. I always marveled at those guys.....I even learned to forgive them for letting Marines fly with them...... :hi:

on edit: they were still flying F-9F-8 Cougars then.....can only see those in museums now.....

2. My dad used to take us to see them when they would come to Milwaukee.
They really are something. I always picture them as little boys in grown men's bodies.

Jessie is bravely hanging out under the bed right now.

:hi:

3. I have a picture
of them as they screamed over my farm. You can see the guy in the plane, even some of his features. It is fun but the horses are less than fond of it. I am right in the path and at the point where they come way down close so they can appear over the base above the trees. My house is in the high fly pass.

I love it too. I have a strong desire to fly in one of them but not enough money to buy my way on one.

6. My dog is not entirely happy right now.
Her ears flatten and she whimpers with each pass.

13. Ahhh poor thing!
There is just something about the sound of the afterburners (?) that is so exciting to me but apparently not to dogs or horses. Poor puppy.

I would love to go to OshKosh. Not this year.

I am a volunteer for the Wings of the North airshow in Eden Prairie MN this year.

26. Oshkosh is AMAZING!
My first time there was also the first time the Concorde came to Oshkosh and I swear, even after being around jets for my whole childhood, I have never, ever, seen or felt anything like it. You know that "pounding in your chest" that Mrs G was talking about? The Concorde pounds you until you feel like you can't take it anymore.

Aside from that, just watching the variety of private airplanes take-off and land is almost too much for the senses to absorb.....

5. I get to see the Blue Angels every year too
Edited on Thu May-19-05 01:45 PM by Zuni
They fly over Annapolis for Naval Academy Graduation ceremonies. For several days, if you get a good spot, you can see the best airshow imaginable.

Actually, that is next week! I'll get to watch the rehersal and the full show during my lunchbreak. I watched them last year from the roof of a parking garage!

9. I was standing in my backyard just now watching them. They like
to fly up and down I-94 as well which can be a real boredom breaker during rush hour. Last year my son (a plane nut/flyboy) practically passed out from excitement. :hi:

you should see her cat when they buzz the city!

I LOVE watching the Blue Angels. I can't wait for a whole week of free airshows next week! :hi:

in Marietta, Ga. And the air show is there every year. I will be able to watch the Blue Angels from the parking lot at my office since they fly directly overhead.

On edit: I checked their schedule and it looks like they will not be coming to Dobbins this year. They were already in Vidalia, GA last month. Darn!

My son adores the KC130's that fly overhead daily. :hi:

10. Fleet Week SF.
They would buzz over the city and over the bay.

It amazing to watch. I was laying out at the beach and they came zipping by. Very impressive to see.

SF being the politcal hotbed it is, there always people not thrilled out the blues being in town.

I'll never forget it. I was walking down Market near Castro when the blues went zipping by. This woman, I swear looked up to the sky with this hate in her eye and hissed at them. I spit my coffee all over the sidewalk.

I loved Fleet Week. I can't remember how many times I got to say to some hunky guy "Hi, salor. New in town?".

14. After a childhood of growing up on bases...
I don't even hear jets, helicopters or anything else as an adult. My husband finds that very odd.

18. Nope, sorry.
I've had the Thunderbirds buzz my house and didn't realize it until my husband said something.

Two summers ago I had the distinct pleasure of lying on a floatie in my pool while both the Thunderbirds AND the Blue Angels roared over head. They do not appear together often. It was quite a sight!

23. I love air shows and especially the Blues!
Dad was a career naval officer. He commanded VF-73 (a fighter squadron) during the mid 60's. They flew the F-8U Crusader. His XO went on to serve a tour with the Blues.

24. That is cool! They really do put on a good show. My daughter takes
her O flights for C.A.P. through the 127th, and she just loves those flights. Has never been in a fighter though. Just the refuelers. :hi:
