Even the never ending flood o' phlegm. Squeezy bottles don't deliver enough, though. I've never used an eyedropper -- my doc just told me to cup the water in the palm of my hand, hold one nostril shut, and snort up the water -- vigorously. Then, tip your head back, wait 30 seconds or so, and then blow -- vigorously. Repeat, until you've done each nostril at least twice (or your brain starts coming out your nose. Whatever comes first).
Nasty, at first -- like when you get water up your nose in the swimming pool. Believe it or not, you get used to it.
If you get it up into your nostrils, the saline will loosen the mucus and help get it OUT, which is what you want. It will also soothe the tormented sinus tissue, helping it heal faster.
A friend of mine had chronic sinus infections for years. She should have bought stock in Kleenex. It was a little embarrassing to go to a restaurant (for everyone, but especially for her) because she was always blowing her nose. After 3 years of this, I finally convinced her to try the saline -- every morning in the shower (just makes sense) and every evening. It's been 12 years. She hasn't had a sinus problem since she started a regular regimen of snot irrigation!
Good luck. Hope you feel better soon, e.
