I'm goin' nuts here waiting to see what the various gaming companies have up their sleeves, especially Nintendo. The new Zelda game's subtitle should be announced in about 12 hours, along with a video of their next-generation console. The former will work me further into an obsessive lather, but the latter quite honestly disappoints me. No hands-on demo is very sad, especially when struggling to get out of third-place market share.

So.. what are you looking forward to for this year's E3? :bounce:

1. It's a small miracle Nintendo didn't end up going the way of Sega...

at least in my humble opinion. When I learned that the Nintendo 64 was going to be a cartridge-based system, given the phenomenal success of the first PlayStation, I just laughed myself silly. I only played a couple of games on that system and I didn't think either one of them was all that great. IIRC, one of them was called Golden Eye and was supposed to be this awesome 4-player shooter. It was nice, but nothing to run out and buy the system for. Between that and the Virtual Boy, I was reminded rather strongly of the horrible business decisions of Sega, and before that Atari and Coleco.

I really like the Game Boy Advance, and the new DS looks really nice. Still, though, I sometimes pine for my old Atari Lynx. That little machine just blew the original Game Boy off the map.

On edit: As far as what I'm looking forward to, I want to see some really killer games for the Sony PSP, and maybe a glimpse of what the PlayStation 3 will be capable of. I can't get much into Xbox simply due to my immense dislike of all things Micro$haft.

2. I posted this in the DU Gaming Group...
Alright, here's what's annoying the sweet bajeezus outta' me... how do we know what we're looking at is actual gameplay or simply 3D rendered cutscenes and movies? Because if most or all of this stuff is simply cutscenes and movies, I'm not impressed...

If you don't know what the hell I'm talking about, head on over to www.gamespot.com for E3 coverage.

3. I've been watching closely..
and I wish there was some sort of small symbol that could be placed in the lower corner of these videos to denote actual gameplay. Just a small asterisk or exclamation point.. just something.. It's not like it'd be all that expensive or complicated to do so..
