I'm turning fifty in three weeks.
Funny thing. As long as I don't look into a mirror, I still feel twenty. The only real difference between now and then is a steel knee and a bit of a gut, and some bifocals I still can't get the hang of after a year of trying. Nothing I can't live with.

I think maybe I'll go hang out on the street corner with the rest of the kids. Maybe later we'll find someone who'll buy us a six pack. Man, it must be great to turn twenty one! I can hardly wait.

2. I still remember, as though it were yesterday, lol, when I turned 50!
I felt as though I'd climbed Mt.Everest without oxygen...I felt as though I'd never climb higher, or look around with more clarity. I could look back over my life up to that point and make some sense of it; and I could look forward to the many years ahead and see what I hoped would be my life then...It was grand, to say the least.

I wish the same for you...

4. Well, as they say...
"It sure beats the alternative".

Seriously though, I just turned 52 and I will give you my two cents on the matter. Sure you see some extra pounds, a wrinkle or two but it is overcome, at least for me, by attitude. Even if I wanted to be younger, which I don't, it would have to be back in my own time.
I truly mean that.

5. Don't know about guys but
lots of women, when they turn fifty experience a kind of liberation - they don't have the need to "please" anymore. I think it has something to do with the "give a shit" atrophying or something.

happy birthday and I hope guys have something special that happens to them at 50 too!
