medical advice on the internet
My mom had surgery on her back on Wednesday and her stomach still hasn't started working. It's very serious and I was looking for what to expect. Besides the Mayo Clinc site does anyone of any suggestions?

3. i don't know of any good sites either
but i suggest you keep looking, keep talking to her doctors, be her advocate--she needs people to ask all the questions she can't think of now. don't be a push-over with the doctors either. if you don't understand something then make them explain it so that you do understand and it makes sense. (just remember that is part of their job--and they are working for your mom.)

these are difficult times--when you're worried about your mom and trying to learn all about something at the same time. but just try your best--it will be a tremendous help to your mom.

hang in there.

4. Thanks everyone for your support
I think I'm even more anxious because I can't go to the hospital because I've got some kind of bug.

5. There are "OK" sites, but...
none of the legitmate ones will tell you what you need to know about something that serious. There are just too many unknowns for ethical doctors to talk about it online.

I hope everything turns out OK, but you have to talk to her doctors about what's going on. Only they know what happened, the prognosis, and any treatment she may need.

6. I Wish
Your Mother the best. It's probably wise to take her somewhere to be seen.

8. She's in the hospital
She had one stage of a two stage back operation. She's suppose to have the next 4 - 5 hour surgery on Wednesday. The did put a tube in her to help with getting nourishment in her - the IV wasn't enough. Other then a headache I feel much better so I will be going to the hospital in a few hours.

BTW - what is everyone else doing up during this hour?
