If you had kids
and you'd heard rumors that a work service in town had hired a known child molestor after his release from jail, and you saw two strange men mowing the lawn in your trailer park, would you feel concerned?

(No, I don't know if this is the same service, so I dunno if I should call the landlord and ask or what.)

1. I usually don't let my kids play around people
we don't know anyways.
Whether or not I heard rumors, I wouldn't want them out there near people I didn't know.

2. True. I worry though because my house is clearly marked as
a little kid home. And my windows are probably not that hard to get around if you really wanted to break in and snatch my babies.

3. My kids do not talk to strangers without us there
and if there's anybody around, they don't go outside alone.....

4. Be careful. Be very careful what you say or do.
First, I'd check out the reliabililty of the source of the rumors.

Then I'd check the Megan's Law type listings to try to identify convicted molesters in the area. Then I'd check the work service company for those names. If one of them came up, then and only then would I inquire as to whether that person had been assigned to your trailer park.

Even if that is the case, I wouldn't approach or bother that person at all. He/she has a right to work. The jail time has been served. Just keep a good eye on the kids.

5. Yeah, I don't want to cause trouble and I do believe in a person having
a second chance at life, within reason. (If he asked to volunteer in a school or something, I couldn't go for that.)

I will just have to hope they are gone before the 7 year old gets off the bus at 2:45, or the 5 year old and I will have to go down to the end of the road to get him.

7. Check that out, and go to the bus stop if necessary.

6. i'd check the online database in my state
Our state has online records of where the molesters are living. Aside from that, don't let your kids hang around strangers (duh) or in places unsupervised, such as a playground or park, without trusted adult supervision.

Just think safe and you'll be safe.
