Saying goodbye to your friends is horrible.
I went for ice cream with my best buddy here today. I'll see her at graduation and the reception afterwards, and her family invited mine for dinner after the reception, but then I'll be leaving for good. Having a goodbye lunch with another friend tomorrow and a third on Friday, then going to my clinic to say goodbye to my professor and the staff (although the professor will be at graduation). I'm such a big baby and always cry. This is awful!

Bobby's drivin' through the city tonight
Through the lights in a hot new rent-a-car
He joins the lovers in his heavy machine
It's a scene down on Sunset Boulevard
Say goodbye to Hollywood
Say goodbye to my baby
Say goodbye to Hollywood
Say goodbye to my baby

Johnny's takin' care of things for a while
And his style is so right for troubadours
They got him sitting with his back to the door
Now he won't be my fast gun anymore
Say goodbye to Hollywood
Say goodbye to my baby
Say goodbye to Hollywood
Say goodbye to my baby

Chorus:
Movin' on is a chance that you take
Any time you try to stay together
Whoa
Say a word out of line
And you find that the friends you had
Are gone forever
Forever

Repeat Chorus

So many faces in and out of my life
Some will last
Some will just be now and then
Life is a series of hellos and goodbyes
I'm afraid it's time for goodbye again
Say goodbye to Hollywood
Say goodbye to my baby
Say goodbye to Hollywood
Say goodbye to my baby

Movin' on is a chance that you take
Any time you try to stay together
Whoa
Say a word out of line
And you find that the friends you had
Are gone forever
Forever

So many faces in and out of my life
Some will last
Some will just be now and then
Life is a series of hellos and goodbyes
I'm afraid it's time for goodbye again
Say goodbye to Hollywood
Say goodbye to my baby

(Billy Joel's "Say Goodbye to Hollywood" - seems particularly appropriate right now.)

1. Ain't it.
I feel for ya.

I graduate in three months, and then I'll be leaving the IRS forever. While the job sucks ass, the people there are some of the best I've ever met. There will be tears shed on that last day. And deep down, I know that I won't be seeing some of those nice people ever again. It cuts deep. Damn.

Best wishes.. :(

2. Real friends are never really gone
My very best friend in the whole wide world ever lives 3000 miles away from me. Though I miss him awfully at times and we don't call or write as often as we should, it's amazing how in tune we still are. There have been many occasions when I was blue and really needed to hear his voice only to have him call unexpectedly. In my heart, I know he's always with me and always will be. Try to keep that in mind.

3. Totally hear you
the good thing about friends is that they'll still be your friends, though. It won't be the same, but there's no reason you can't see them in the future...

I've become better friends with some of my college and high school buddies since graduating.
