It's a little crooked and not quite in as far as hubby puts it. And a bit far away from the walkway.

But anyway, I gotta get used to it. Since I am inheriting mother's car I have to get my license now. *eek*

1. Congratulations!
I'll have to learn how to negotiate my SUV into our new driveway (sharp left turn and you're into the garage) next week.

2. No garage here, but a sidewalk to drive up on to and a deck to wipe out
I know I looked like an idiot. Kept lurching up the road and into the drive. And this thing is an automatic! *lol*

3. No, I know you didn't look like an idiot
Those things aren't easy to drive sometimes, and some driveways are very tricky to negotiate.

6. I shoulda raised the seat. It was low for hubby's sake so I
couldn't see over the hood. Very unnerving.

4. My daughter just got her license this year
She's 24 and has two kids and I've been after her for a couple of years to get it because I think it's so important, especially with kids. She still has not driven on the freeway yet but she's pretty comfortable tooling around town now. It's odd to me because I was a farm kid - I learned to drive when I was 8 - my dad would put the pickup in first gear and I would crawl around the hayfield while he and my brother loaded it.

5. Yeah, I had nightmares as a kid that I stole the car and got in huge
trouble for joyriding.

The 'rents had to _force_ me into taking drivers' ed, and I waited til the last possible moment to take the test (which I failed).

So I had to get an extension on my permit and had an accident. Nothing horrendous but it shook me up so badly that I refused to drive again. Fast forward 17 years and now I have left it for so long it's become an out and out phobia.

But my kids are big enough to want to go places and I am holding them back. If I could get a provisional license to just drive the 2 miles to town and back, I'd be all for it! But no, I have to take the test again.. And in the same place where I failed it before. *lol*

(I can't even ask my mother's spirit to help me out. She was a terrible driver. *g*)

7. One major benefit of having a driver's license (Aside from the
independence thing) is that I can plaster the car with liberal stickers.

Actually, mom had some great ones on there already but I am going to add more, much to my conservative hubby's chagrin. *g*
