Do I hold the record for being fired the fastest?
Many, many years ago, my first job in college was driving a pizza delivery truck. Getting ready to deliver my first pizza I backed the delivery truck out of the parking space and right into the side of the owner's new Caddilac. All told, I was on the job about 20 minutes before getting fired.

Can anybody beat that record?

2. Jeepers!
I am truly impressed. How far did you miss thisrecord the next time you were fired? I have to admit, I only lasted 9 months on one job, myself

3. I take it you weren't eligible for
unemployment?

I was once fired after eight months as a supervisor at a travel plaza on the Ohio turnpike (for a whopping four bucks an hour, NOTHING for all of the work involved) about fifteen years ago while I was in college, on a day I was not scheduled to work. Someone had called off, and they called and pretty much demanded that I come in even though I'd worked eight days straight. I was exhausted and made several mistakes, then lost my temper totally at an employee because they simply would not listen to anything I said. They called me into the office and fired me that afternoon. If only I hadn't answered the damn phone that morning, lol!

4. Well...
once I interviewed over the phone and got the job.

Then, I went up there to fill out the papers, and was given a start date.

I called to confirm the start date, and was told they were still looking for someone.

Does that count?

5. I'm impressed
I thought my mother held the record. She was fired by a local florist after only half a day. Twenty minutes may well be a record.

6. I can beat that. First job, got hired as a telemarketer (16!)...
went to show up on the day assigned, like 3 days later, and they were GONE.

The whole operation had shut down.

7. I may have you beat
My senior year in HS I took a job at Burger King. On my first day in the store manager handed me a uniform and they stuck me on the drive through "handout" window immediately (easy job...make sure the order on the screen matches the contents of the bag, push a button to clear the order, ask them if they want ketchup, and hand it over). My FOURTH CAR was a shiny new BMW with a leather interior and some older blonde lady behind the wheel. As I handed over her super sized Dr. Pepper (still remember that after all these years), the lid popped off, the cup folded, and 32 ounces of sticky soda went ALL OVER the interior of her car.

When the manger rushed over to find out what happened, the situation went from bad to "holy crap". The older blonde woman was his mother-in-law, and I was fired on the spot. I know that I was on the window less than five minutes before dumping the soda, but he yelled and screamed at me for 10 or 15 minutes before uttering the words "You're Fired!" (actually, I don't even know that he ever really said that...I think it was more along the lines of "Get the f**k out of my restaraunt you f**king idiot and don't you DARE ask for a paycheck!")

Ah well, he was an asshole anyway :)

11. He wasn't that young
I'd say early 30's.

I was actually worried that he was going to have a stroke...he was so furious that had spit flying out of his mouth as he yelled, his face was a bright reddish purple, and all of the veins on his prematurely balding head were sticking out like they were going to burst.

Worked at a pet food store. The girl who trained me was stealing from the till to try to get me fired. One day I busted her on it which lead to a confrontation....I quit. The boss took me to coffee, and persuaded me to stay...the next day he called up and said maybe it is best I look for work elsewhere.

I was hired for an assembly line job years back and was told that all the positions were filled. They talked me into driving trucks to crop fields to collect produce. I told them repeatedly that I had never driven a truck and I wasn't sure I wanted to. I jumped in with both feet however and was given a quick tutoring and off I went. I survived the first day and when I got stuck the next morning. When the boss followed my load back to the factory he saw my driving skills were wanting... severly so... and I was told to leave.
