What's the last movie you *really* wanted to see?
There's a thread over in LBN and an article in Entertainment Weekly about declining film box office sales... personally I blame Bush's economy choking any creativity and the constant sequel/book-to-film/remake crap coming out...

So what's the last movie you were *really* excited to see, in the theater, that wasn't a sequel/remake/book/play/musical-to-film? Why?

My answer would have been the last LOTR movie, but the last original film I was excited to see first run was...um... The Jacket, because Adrien Brody was in it. I actually can't think of another one, and how sad is that?

21. Me three, or four maybe.
It was the first movie I went to see in the theater since, like, the introduction of the talkie. Well, not quite THAT long, but you get the idea.

13. It's so hard for me to pronounce her name now...
I feel like I'm insane--I know she Americanized it, as her name is Ziyi and everything...but it still seems wrong somehow!

She is lovely. Btw, she's going to be the lead in "Memoirs of a Geisha", which will probably be a big hit (as it is based on the book!)

I've not seen that film you mentioned though--thought it was capitalizing on the "Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon" thing. Was the story actually good?

20. It was ok, good
but I'd put out of the "BIG" China to america releases about 3

of course shes also in the other two, Crouching Tiger and Hero

I'd put Hero above Crouching Tiger, with house of flying daggers about third

but if you REALLY wanna see a killer "asian" film, watch Better Luck Tomorrow

totally fucks with the stereotype of asian kids in america.

7. Did it suck the whole way through, or was it the ending?
For me, any thrillery film can be completely destroyed by the ending scene. Maybe I'm a snob?

I actually have The Forgotten on my Netflix queue...so you're saying don't bother, huh, LOL?

19. It had it's moments at first
But you could see the storyline progressing in a VERY bad way and you just knew halfway through the movie that the ending was going to disappoint. If I had it to do over again, I wouldn't waste my time.

11. Not a sequel? I'm not sure. I'm interested in Sin City, but
to say I'm "excited" about it would be overstating.

I'm very excited for Star Wars, War Of The Worlds, and Charlie & The Chocolate Factory, but that's a sequel and two remakes.

they're just not makin' em like they used to....which is funny, because back then they weren't being paid the king's ransom they are today...

31. A few from this past Oscar season:
I saw all the ones I wanted to.
Million Dollar Baby
Hotel Rwanda
The Aviator
Just to name a few

So far in 2005, I haven't really needed to see a movie. Nothing has enticed me.

Everyone was telling me how funny it was, and it did look funny from the previews. Then I saw it and almost fell asleep during it, not even laughing once. Biggest piece of garbage I've ever seen in my life.
