False Pregnancy in Dogs? Help!
I'm almost positive my 4 year old unspayed Husky, Stripe, is having a false pregnancy. Has anyone else had this happen?

1. YES!
I had a golden retriever who did this. She dug a hole under her favorite bush and took all of her toys in there. We could find her in there and she would occasionally squeek her toys and snuggle them up to her nipples. I don't remember what we did , if anything, but the vet was involved. I think we just let it pass and she was fine. I just had a horse do this too, evidently that is not all that unusual either but it sure was a pain waiting for no baby!

2. Exactly!
She dug a huge hole and is currently "mothering" a tennis ball! She's also been in her doghouse that she never goes in, messing around & nesting. I'm going to call the vet on Monday just to see what she says. Thanks!

4. I don't think it is harmful
and it is so cute. I don't think they really think much about it, people would grieve to find out they weren't but in these cases I think it is just hormonal but it is so tender. I really would love to breed a dog someday. I know the best part of breeding horses is that first tender nicker, it makes it all worthwhile. Good luck, I hope the vet helps.

3. My Chihuahua Candy
had one years ago-she carried a rubber toy around with her for a week. It's a pain, but it passes. It's not nearly as bad as when my Maddie (the cat) went into heat. Meooow!
