Kevin Smith reviews Episode III
Edited on Wed Apr-27-05 05:39 PM by Bombtrack
Spoiler alert

“Revenge of the Sith” is, quite simply, fucking awesome. This is the “Star Wars” prequel the haters have been bitching for since “Menace” came out, and if they don’t cop to that when they finally see it, they’re lying. As dark as “Empire” was, this movie goes a thousand times darker - from the triggering of Order 66 (which has all the Shock Troopers turning on the Jedi Knights they’ve been fighting beside throughout the Clone Wars and gunning them down), to the jaw-dropping Anakin/Obi Wan fight on Mustafar (where - after cutting his legs and arm off, Ben leaves Skywalker burning alive on the shores of a lava river, with Anakin spitting venomous sentiments at his departing mentor), this flick is so satisfyingly tragic, you’ll think you’re watching “Othello” or “Hamlet”. . .

Screw you Kevin Smith.

2. Geez. This guy almost sounds like he's writing a press release.
Ugh. I look forward to seeing the movie but I'm not gonna fall for that overbearing pile of hype. I don't care who that guy is.

3. I highly doubt Kevin would lie
The movie is going to be huge anyway, simply because it's the last Star Wars movie ever. It'll be a nice surprise if it's really as good as people are saying. Regardless, nobody who saw the original Star Wars will dare miss it.

11. Episodes 7, 8, and 9 written by Timothy Zahn
were the best of the offering so far.

4. Never heard of Kevin Smith?
He's not a reviewer. He is a film maker. He is (or has been) an independent film maker. Considered to be a have very high degree of integrity he is unlikely to right hype for a film. He is quite simply a fan boy. Including many starwars refs in his movies. He has lead the charge when decrying Lucas' failings. That he is saying this about the movie gives me some hope.

5. I'll wait and see. After all, ANYTHING can look good on paper.
What the above review sounds like, makes it sound like Obi is the vile bastard. I'd never expect Obi-Wan of the original trilogy to be so vicious as to leave a man turned evil alive like that. Especially with the gibber that hate leads to violence, et al...

7. I personally cannot wait for the movie...
But I still wonder though how dark any movie can be that has Jar Jar Binks in it?

9. That's the worst spoiler of them all!
That the stereotypic blob will make another appearance.

OTOH, if they put Jar-Jar into the Meat Grinder, I'll applaud.
