3. She's free to exercise her 1 st Amend. I LOVE IT WHEN RWers GET PISSED
Not that the op is a RWers or anything. I just get pissed when the RWers go on and on about how "actors" should just shut up... then they have Reagan and Ah-nald.

6. U.S. is partly to blame for the 9/11 attacks
Meaning, our foreign policy.

7. I happen to agree with it.
But then, I tend to question whether America is such a wonderful place, anyway. As far as I'm concerned, "patriotism" is a rather peculiar form of mental illness.

8. Here is the exact quote
I think America has done reprehensible things and is responsible in some way and so I think the delicacy with which it's dealt allows that to sort of creep in."

Anyone who doesn't agree with that statement has their head buried so far in the sand it will never see sunshine again.

24. It's the head in the sand effect in spades.
Meanwhile, the right lets pass Debbie Shlussel's ill-informed, knee-jerk pissing on Marla Ruzicka's grave.

25. Where exactly is the part about America DESERVING 9/11?
I've heard people rant and rave about this, but is that all inferring from the one quote about reprehensible things? If she claimed that 3,000 people deserved to die like the college professor did, I can understand some degree of uproar, but all I saw was one sentence.

Also, forgive someone who has been out of the country for a long time (see my cell phone thread), but is this actually a known actress? I've never heard of her before.

to be attacked or die. She said this country bears some responsibility for what happened - and she is right.

Maggie's a brilliant actor, as well as a patriotic American.

I agree with her 100%.

13. Funny, isn't it?
The right wing wants to pose as if they're tough guys who can stand up to terrorism*...but let an actress or a professor somewhere say a word they don't like, and they fall weeping in a maidenly conniption.

Q: By the way, how does this differ from Jerry Falwell saying gays, people who believe in reproductive choice and liberals were to blame? A: Maggie isn't a bigoted flabby nutcase and what she said actually has some bearing on reality..

* Of course, by "stand up to terrorism," they mean stay in the states and lie their stinking asses off.

Terrorists hate freedom and to keep them from attacking again we must stomp it out when it rears its ugly head...

Likewise, I could give a rats ass about celebrity opinion anyway. Clint Eastwood is among my all time favorite actors and directors and he is a fucking Republican.

Edited on Wed Apr-27-05 03:13 PM by Beaverhausen
she was speaking to someone about the movie. It didn't just come out of thin air.

Why is the right so afraid to find out just why we were attacked?
