Zeppelin freaks.. I need your help ID'ing a song
Just heard a clip on VH1 and I've spent the last hour going through Amazon listening to tracks and trying to find it. Nothing.

The only way I can describe it.. It starts with a slide guitar riff and has this rhythm.. "zaaaa na na na naaaa (beat) za naaa na na naaa naaa naaa naaa.. zaaa na na na naaaa (beat)"

It's a popular song, so I'm really surprised I didn't find it on Amazon.

First one to figure it out gets a cookie!

4. Funny, that song fits the rhythm perfectly, but that's not it.
It's a slide steel guitar at the beginning, not just an acoustic.

8. "Immigrant Song".
Ah, ah,
We come from the land of the ice and snow,
From the midnight sun where the hot springs blow.
The hammer of the gods will drive our ships to new lands,
To fight the horde, singing and crying: Valhalla, I am coming!

On we sweep with threshing oar, Our only goal will be the western shore.

Ah, ah,
We come from the land of the ice and snow,
From the midnight sun where the hot springs blow.
How soft your fields so green, can whisper tales of gore,
Of how we calmed the tides of war. We are your overlords.

On we sweep with threshing oar, Our only goal will be the western shore.

So now you'd better stop and rebuild all your ruins,
For peace and trust can win the day despite of all your losing.

13. This if funny because I had a Zep song in my head when I came across this
thread. (Yes, I know that rhymes)

It's the one where he sings "Baby Baby Do Ya Like It?" and ends with him repeating "I really don't know (echo), I really don't know (echo)"

Which one is that?

30. I was also thinking of D'yer Maker...
then the original poster mentioned that there were no lyrics.

Ohh oh oh oh ohh ohh
You don't have to go-oh oh oh ohh ohh,
You don't have to go-oh oh oh ahh ahh,
You don't have to go__.

Ayy ay ay ay ay ayy
All those tears I cry ay ay ay ayy,
All those tears I cry oh oh ahh ayy,
Baby please don't go__.

When I read the letter that you wrote me
It made me mad, mad, mad.
When I read the words that it told me
It made me sad, sad, sad.
But I still love you so,
I can't let you go,
I love you
Ooh baby I love you-eah.

Kinda of a slower song .....Zzzzzzaaa na na na na na Zzzzzzzzzza na na na na na (then J Bonaham kicks in with the drums) and Plant start singing, or moaning 'In my time so I can die easy ..... song slows down again .... slide guitar continues ..... yea thats it. Slide Guitar on this song big time. I think it's on The Swan Song album though. :) The song picks up intensity later on then slows down agian, I can picture the slide guitar......

33. Ok, let's try this..
Edited on Sat Apr-23-05 11:48 PM by tridim
The first 5 notes are very distinctive.. Picture it played on one guitar string, the high E..

Note Note Note Note Note
1------2------3------4------5------
slide> high high high high

The "high" notes are all the same note. The first note is a slide to that high note.

Edit: The 5 notes happen in about "one-mississippi"

55. GOT IT! -- It's from 'What is and What Should Never Be'
At about 2:10 in the middle of the song.

The search was worth it, I listened to almost every Zep song to find it. There are lots of not-so-popular gems in their collection that freaking rock. 'Nobody's Fault But Mine' is one I've never paid much attention to, but it's a killer song.

Thanks for all your help!
