i hate that stereotype. the only people i've ever heard say it anything like "joy-see" are from brooklyn or queens, or boston maybe. NJ is very diverse, we have a very neutral accent that doesn't really stand out.

chances are that if someone from nj has a heavy accent, they probably got it somewhere else.

as far as the turnpike goes, locals don't really use it. we built that thing to get people to nyc as soon as possible so they weren't lingering around here.
