I love the open road getting to see the hinterlands. No Interstate highways for me, I like the back roads that take one through small villages that most generally are on the verge of disappearing. It is in those small hamlets that I have found some wondrous adventures. Stay off the mile-wide strip of concrete and find you some shady lane to travel.
Now the question: What is the worst thing for you about long car trips. For me when traveling with some people it is the constant stop and starts. Understand that I am not talking about stopping for something of interest; I am talking about stopping for nature. What is your pet peeve about traveling in cars for long distances with others?
every couple of hours or so. I need to answer a call of nature -- I'm female so I need to pee more than once a day -- or just to stretch my legs. Especially if I'm the driver.
If getting off the interstates is great, it's even better to pull the car over at some interesting place, get out and look around.
