10. I have no ideas why anyone except greedy CEOs would hate Unions
they are a dirty word on FreeRepublic and among brainwashed poor people (as if they are multimillion dollar making a year CEOs who profit off of poor wages and unfair labor practices)--as if they don't benefit from Union struggles for worker's rights in the past.

Sure, some Union bosses are corrupt, and they have done criminal things in the past and even betrayed their own workers, but the benefits of the Union movement have helped almost every American, except for a small minority of ultra greedy bastards :grr:

12. 'Cuz the majority of the people in this state are.........
brainwashed? To think that any collective bargaining unit can do more for an individual than one person?....that's is not in their brain-power (the majority, that is, not us progressives).

13. the majority are NOT stupid
most people are misinformed, and decent folks, but they are misinformed. The big money interests and the Republicans spend a VAST amount of money to keep people misinformed.

Most people are decent folks who want to do what is right, just like most people all over the world. But people all over the world are led astray by snake oil salesmen, from Communists, to Mullahs, to Big Business to Republicans, all selling pernicious ideas packaged in a 'sensible, family friendly' way

14. I didn't say stupid...I used the term 'brainwashed'......
altho I could agree that maybe mis-informed might be more appropriate.

Where does the fine line between brainwashed and mis-informed begin?

17. I don't know
I must have gotten the wrong impression. I am sorry, i didn't mean to insinuate you said something you didn't. I apologize :hi:

Brain washing is more forceful--misinforming is more passive. A lot of people work 40 hours, have kids and all kinds of things so they often don't take a lot of time to really dig deep for the facts---and since the GOP fills the media with fast talking snake oil salesmen who make sense superficially. They have so much money, and they have paid talking points people to spew their claptrap on call. Aside from some good reporters and some good newspapers, and some occasionally very good reporting on TV, the media is generally lazy. It has gotten much worse in the last 10 years, as conservative bullies have browbeaten the networks by publishing article after artcicle on 'media bias' and filled the airwaves with well paid focus groups.
Then there are the talk radio thugs, hogging the airwaves on the radio, spewing propaganda to people driving home or to work. Then there is FOX "news" which is like a GOP infomercial and all of the Moonie and Murdoch press outlets. Good thing at least 50% of the population doesn't listen to their bullshit or knows better.

I think the majority of Americans are progressive. But alot of progressives do not vote. Study after study shows conservatives have a much higher percentage of people who vote in every election. So even when a Republican thug wins, he may not be the the real most popular candidate.

Most people I know, even the ones who call themselves Republicans have many liberal views, but are misinformed on some issues. I know very few people that are really Right Wing, or solidly Republican like Sean Hannity.

19. The media (esp Faux news) has in essence 'brainwashed' most Americans..
'It has gotten much worse in the last 10 years, as conservative bullies have browbeaten the networks by publishing article after artcicle on 'media bias' and filled the airwaves with well paid focus groups.'

At least where I live, Faux news is the 'only place to get accurate information'. I see it as far more than just mis-information.

20. Not only is it mis-information
It is irresponsible journalism and goes against the ethics of professional journalism. How devoid of a conscience and soul all of those shills at Pox Snooze must be.

I hope to be able to swing by there...have not RSVP'd yet, but with the kids and one having severe asthma, I never know when I can get away...

As it is tonight I am doing the nebulizer dance every 3-4 hours.

11. God bless Unions!
Long live the labor movement! Labor rights over greed!

I thank the good Lord for the brave people around the world who gave their lives and their liberty to secure rights for the average person, as well as the men and women who sacrificed their lives in pursuit of other noble ideas.

16. A local place - none of the chains here are unionized
The restaurant is named Cafe di Napoli. Surrounding the entire dining room is a huge mural of Italian landscapes and architecture.

The food is great (it is not like a four star restaurant but I think the food is great), the service is outstanding and it is one of my top ten favorite restaurants of all time.

18. Some of the best places are not fancy at all
One of the best resturaunts in Annapolis is a small Greek resturaunt called the Parthenon. You wouldn't even notice it if you didn't know it was there. It has murals of ancient greece on the walls, it is small and family run. Nothing really fancy, but their food is OUTSTANDING
yum
