Having a Denny's-type restaurant scene in a movie makes it better.
I think I've stumbled on a bizzare rule of thumb about movies I tend to like. I used to say movies tended to be good if they had coke in the plot, and now I think there's another similar thing out there. Think about:

Ladykillers
The Big Lebowski
Pulp Fiction
My Breakfast With Blassie
Mulholland Drive

So now I want people to tell me a bunch more of these, so that I'll go see them and will probably like them.

...but the smiley makes me think you're recreating a scene from My Breakfast With Blassie!

4. Interesting concept
However, I think I can kill that premise with the horrid "Looking for an Echo" - also with a Denny's type eatery scene.

Possibly one of the worst movies I have ever sat thru.

In fact, the restaurant they ate in is just down the street from me. It was a Sambo's (remember them...bad name, good food) that had closed. They fixed it back up for the movie. It's a doctor's office now.

Believe me - there were nights when I thought I was in a David Lynch or Coen brothers movie.

12. We used to do the late night/early morning Denny's breakfast here
in Birmingham and yes, you do have a disproportionate number of weirdos at those hours. All the Denny's closed here about five or six years ago and I really miss them.

13. The one in Ann Arbor?
Once I went there with a friend and they brought out a mug for my coffee and it had lipstick on it! I walked out. The guy said he was sorry, and I said I'd probably be back, but just not right now!

16. I went to U of M from 1992-1996, so I just missed you.
I was a Denny's freak since high school though. It's like my favorite restaurant. There was a period the first three years where I didn't have a car, so when someone else would visit with one or something I would be fiending to go! Then once I got one, me and a friend would go like every Thursday night real late at night because I got off of work around midnight and only had like one late Friday class.

21. That's my very point, thank you. As in ...
Titanic would have been a lotso better if it had have had
a couple Denny's scenes. Denny's scenes are so you can
relax from the general tension as in ship meet iceberg etc.
E.G. what if the ship and the iceberg had had a Denny's scene,
perhaps in the dream of a character. Discussing their
relationship over a casual plate of fries.

Nice Guy Eddie: C'mon, throw in a buck!
Mr. Pink: Uh-uh, I don't tip.
Nice Guy Eddie: You don't tip?
Mr. Pink: Nah, I don't believe in it.
Nice Guy Eddie: You don't believe in tipping?
Mr. Blue: You know what these chicks make? They make shit.
Mr. Pink: Don't give me that. She don't make enough money that she can quit.
Nice Guy Eddie: I don't even know a fucking Jew who'd have the balls to say that. Let me get this straight: you don't ever tip?
Mr. Pink: I don't tip because society says I have to. All right, if someone deserves a tip, if they really put forth an effort, I'll give them something a little something extra. But this tipping automatically, it's for the birds. As far as I'm concerned, they're just doing their job.
Mr. Blue: Hey, our girl was nice.
Mr. Pink: She was okay. She wasn't anything special.
Mr. Blue: What's special? Take you in the back and suck your dick?
Nice Guy Eddie: I'd go over twelve percent for that.
