What is it about Hugh Grant?
A question for the ladies and/or laddies...

I guess there is some sort of Hugh Grant marathon on PPV & it occurred to me (not for the first time) that I just don't get the fascination.

What is it about this man that drives certain individuals absolutely mad with admiration? They're all fainting & swooning & whatnot.

So apparently he's like THE romantic leading man or whatever. And they KEEP recasting him.

:wtf:

And as a longtime admirer of men of all varieties, I just don't get it.

Please help me understand.

5. British, blue eyes, tall and lanky, dry sense of humor
He's not one of my favorites, but I can see what others might see in him. I don't see him as "soulmate material", but he's "fun illicit affair material".

a British accent turns me off.

He's slightly less repulsive than Mick Jagger to me.

7. Because he seems so sweet.
He looks very handsome, reserved, and proper on the outside, but in reality, he's a total freak. Some people find that appealing. :7

9. Watch Love Actually and Two Weeks Notice...
After I watched that movie, I fell hopelessly in love with him. It's the accent, the eyes, the hair, and I think just him. He's warm and fuzzy.

20. He's warm and fuzzy...
with that British kink side to him. I remember reading an interview with him in which he talked about his love of women in Catholic school girl uniforms and cheerleading outfits. He was also wildly turned on when Elizabeth showed up on the set of "Maurice" dressed in men's cricket gear.

Hugh's a bit naughty beneath that stammering and fluttering of his. :D

18. I adore Hugh...

and have since I first swooned over him making out with James Wilby in "Maurice".

Physically, he has beautiful hair and eyes. He is funny as shit off camera and he's smart. But what makes me crazy over him is the very naughty sparkle he has in his eyes -- the man is a flirt monster -- to a girl it's a promise of a great deal of fun once the package is opened. ;)

19. It's the self deprecating "it's not about me" thing he does.
He has a semi shy quality that creates a neat little mystery that's TOO enticing.

And he'd make you laugh.

25. If you figure it out, will you please tell me?
I haven't got a clue, although he does seem to accept decent roles in light hearted films - I liked Nottinghill, even though I don't like him or Julia Roberts.

But, does he make me swoon? No. Not at all. :hi: Hot Stuff!

I like some of his romantic comedies--"Love, Acutally" and the film he did with Julia Roberts, too.

29. I like him now that he's gotten older--"About a Boy" is fanfreakingtastic.
Generally, I find him cute because he's got that "it's not about me" personality someone upthread posted about, but I never went *whoa* until "About a Boy". Could be because there are lots of single moms in that, and I vicariously lived through Rachel Weisz. Maybe.
