I vaguely remember she was about to be the next big thing, like Shakira, a while ago. She was one of People magazine's 50 most beautiful people. I remember because they made a point of telling me it's pronounced "Shoo Shaa".

For all the people who have had to endure loud and annoying kids at a restaurant there has to be some kind of solace in watching a sexy lady dancing around while a bunch of unhappy kids are herded around the stage.

The thing that I remember most, is Xuxa prancing around wearing thigh-high white boots, and the looks on the faces of those young boys.

11. Hell, yes. I watched that show almost every day.

Nothing like a Playboy centerfold prancing around in fuck-me boots and hot pants, while leading a gang of clueless kids around in inane Romper-Room-style games. Neither you nor the kids onstage knew just what in the hell to make of the whole thing.

It was higher-than-high-concept TV. They don't make shows like that anymore.

12. I remember it.

I think I watched her show, when she did it in English. She had major communication issues with the children and seemed to be angry with them. Xuxa seemed to be like someone's bitter older sister who had to stay home from the mall to watch young siblings.

14. I tried to describe the show to friends...

...and they didn't believe me until I tape it. Then one of my lesbian friends borrowed the tape and I've never seen it since.

I remember the era when her show was on very well. It was the same time that the Davidians (Waco, TX) were constantly in the news. After the news a Xristian beg-a-thon would come on, and I would change to Xuxa, mainly for the slack-jawed disbelief of the whole thing. Anyway, the Xristian show had an opening I always had to watch. It was the show's crew, singing some "Xrstian soldier" bullshit with the special effects of bombs, mortar shells, gunfire and general warfare while they cheerily smiled at the camera and marched in place. I really wish I had taped THAT instead. It was surreal, especially after being battered with all the Branch Davidian insanity.
