I'd rather gargle razor blades than fix a plumbing problem.

1. Oh, man, I LIKE plumbing.
With the blowtorch and all? That's some fun stuff. Get out the solder! :)

7. That's The Cool Part
The cleaning out of pipes is really gross though. I'm not nuts about changing a wax seal either. But, the sweating of pipes! Cool! Building with fire!

2. I must agree.
When the pipes are plugged, I want to run the other way.
There is always a mess when you have to work on the plumbing. They always have problems late at night it seems.
We are talking about existing plumbing, not new work

3. That's "plumbing" for you.

From the general contractors I've known, the word was that plumbing is a PITA. Something unexpected 'usually' or 'most often' comes up.

I've never known any plumbers, so I have no idea what they say.

Does this make me a 'plumber?'

5. there are three rules to plumbing:
1. shit doesn't run uphill.
2. hot on left, cold on right.
3. never chew your fingernails.

9. I'll trade plumbing for drywall!
Edited on Fri Apr-08-05 02:03 PM by onager
Just went thru a plumbing adventure that started because the @#$%^! dish sprayer hose was leaking. Not that I ever use the damn thing.

Went to (b)Lowe's, got a "Universal" hose/sprayer replacement.

Fat chance.

I knew I was screwed when I checked the size of the fitting on the new sprayer. 5/8. Great. Simple.

Crawled under sink and contorted myself, reached up to the old sprayer fitting with a 5/8 wrench...

...and it didn't fit.

As it turns out, the manufacturer, Delta, likes to use odd-sized fittings so that you have to come back to them for replacements! How nifty! This one was like 55/64 or some damn thing.

So I called around the local plumbing supply places. One had the hose alone, no sprayer, in stock. They generously offered to sell me the hose for a little over $56.00!!!!

Went online, found the whole assembly with sprayer for about half that price.

At least the damn thing is all fixed now, and it's dry as bone under the sink.

Now that frigging drywall is REALLY driving me nuts...(rain leaks. Mildew. Etc.)
