A great song, and hopefully an appropriate tribute to Kheph and nostamj
Edited on Thu Apr-07-05 06:36 PM by undisclosedlocation
from Warren Zevon, near the end of his fight:

Keep Me In Your Heart

Shadows are falling and I'm running out of breath
Keep me in your heart for awhile
If I leave you it doesn't mean I love you any less
Keep me in your heart for awhile

When you get up in the morning and you see that crazy sun
Keep me in your heart for while
There's a train leaving nightly called when all is said and done
Keep me in your heart for while

Sha-la-la-la-la-la-la-li-li-lo
Keep me in your heart for while
Sha-la-la-la-la-la-la-li-li-lo
Keep me in your heart for while

Sometimes when you're doing simple things around the house
Maybe you'll think of me and smile
You know I'm tied to you like the buttons on your blouse
Keep me in your heart for while

Hold me in your thoughts, take me to your dreams
Touch me as I fall into view
When the winter comes keep the fires lit
And I will be right next to you

Engine driver's headed north to Pleasant Stream
Keep me in your heart for while
These wheels keep turning but they're running out of steam
Keep me in your heart for while

Sha-la-la-la-la-la-la-li-li-lo
Keep me in your heart for while
Sha-la-la-la-la-la-la-li-li-lo
Keep me in your heart for while
Keep me in your heart for while

-Warren Zevon/ Jorge Calderon

Ok, now go hug somebody you love. Life's too fucking short; I love all of you.
-me

Originally, the subject line read, "Before any more of you go dying, a fond farewell just in case," which I guess was pretty strange.

2. I guess it was a pretty weird subject line. Hopefully the new one
reads more clearly.

6. Wow. What a lovely post, and thanks so much. I miss them both.
I don't have anybody to hug, here, except for my little dogs, so I am hugging you. I hope you don't mind.

8. Actually, I was going to PM you. On the thread on my mom's death (7/1/03)
you mentioned seeing a story about what a hard time caregivers for Alzheimer's patients have after the patient dies. Just wanted to pass along that some months after my mom died, my dad found a sweet lady two weeks younger than himself who also enjoys big band and ballroom dancing and has been having a ball. So sometimes things do turn out well. :D

10. PM me, anytime. I'll check out this thread, but it does stick in my mind.
Some threads just do. Yes, I think I remember saying that after my Dad's cousin lost both her Dad and her husband, in very short order, who both needed a lot of care, and were running her ragged, she just broke down, saying "I have nothing to do!" I owe her a phone call. Thanks for the reminder.:-)

And how lovely for your Dad. He deserves to have some fun. I think that he must have felt lonely long before he lost your mother, since she was already lost to him. Such a sad illness. But I have heard that they're making progress, and that there are actual meds that can help. And none too soon. Thanks so much for letting me know and my best to your Dad.

11. I searched for this thread, but DU I wouldn't let me.
Said to try later, which I will. Anyway, I just wanted to kick this thread and let you know, again, how sorry I am about your mother. It must still be hard, as it is with my Dad. I'm glad, though, to hear the positive news about your father.

12. Here ya go
It's said to try later for a year now. Fortunately, I sent the thread to all and sundry at the time and the link still works. Here 'tis:

14. Thank you, my friend. I was right that I remembered this very well.
And it was my Dad's cousin, who was totally stressed, looking after a father and a husband, who was the one who cried, to me, when she lost them both, that she suddenly had nothing to do!;(

Yes, it says to try later. What's up with that? I made my 2000th post two days before this, which I sent to my friend, and I thought that finding this would help me, but I just found myself back on DU II.

But I remember your post, and my heart went out to you. Alzheimer's is such a cruel disease. I have learned that they have meds to treat it, now, and I'm so glad to hear that your Dad is doing well, but you still have my sympathy. It's so tough and you will remember your Mom, as I will my Dad, everyday for the rest of your life.;(

Thanks for finding this for me and for the lovely song for our lost friends. We'll never forget the special people in our lives.
