Poll question: Who was Pope when you were born?
In the spirit of the week, here's another annoying poll for you. No cats were harmed in the posting of this thread. :D

The timeline goes from John Paul II back to Pius XI. I doubt there are many here born before 1922, so that's the cutoff. John Paul II was Pope when I was born, so he's literally the only Pope I've known. What about you?

Oh, and vote other if you do happen to have been born before 1922 or there was no Pope when you were born.

3. It'll be interesting to see
if any DUers were born during that one month in '78 when John Paul I was Pope!

I'm a Pope John Paul II baby myself.

12. I hope the next one goes with Innocent
That would be so cool. Also, the Innocent popes are supposed to represent more peace and opened mindedness IIRC.

13. I bet the next one is Gregory
It's a good one. Don't know if that means he'll think he's all that, or he'll actually be all that.

14. JP seemed like such a cool guy
from what I've read, seen. I was only 7 and it was only a month (32 days I think), so I don't really remember (though I remember 1978 being tumultuous as a Catholic kid).

I read his book (which he wrote as Albino Luciani before he became pope). It was a collection of letters to various real and fictional people throughout history.

I wish he had had more of a chance.

"The Pope Who Smiled"
Pope John Paul
Albino Luciani
1912-1978

15. One wonders what kind of Church he would have left.
I don't know the man's politics, but I wonder if we may have more of a progressive, Vatican II church than we do now.
