3. That's a matter of opinion and this is America
after all, but are you referring to post-Jerry Dead or old Dead with Jerry as "suck"ing?

4. anything that any of them created, and anything that any of them inspired
sorry, i don't have readily available access to mind-altering drugs, so i can't "appreciate" the "genius" of the dead.

8. Didn't take drugs
to appreciate that Jerry Garcia was one of the finest guitarists that ever lived and played. He was a master at the steel-pedal. He was also a fantastic blue-grass musician.

Remember 'Teach Your Children' by Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young? Jerry Garcia played that memorable beautiful steel-pedal guitar on that song.

I'm sorry you thought you had to take drugs to appreciate fine music. Not everyone who loved the Grateful Dead did, you know. Maybe you should listen to "Old and In the Way" sometime.

15. Oh my, that ol' kozmic dyslexia's popping out again
My bad! Either way, I will agree to disagree with you and the other poster. Jerry Garcia *was* a master and one did not have to 'do drugs' to enjoy the music of the Grateful Dead.

Not to mention, Jerry and the Dead would have been a huge and powerful help to the Left right about now!

17. I liked them and him
he was a master guitarist IMHO, often overlooked and underrated.

6. Maybe, but you can't argue with their marketing sense
1). After testing the post-Jerry waters with the band name "The Other Ones," they simply say "fuck it" and start calling themselves "The Dead," thus firing up the lucrative tour engine (the money in the Dead empire was NEVER about albums or CDs, it was about THE TOURS).

2). For only $598, you can have a "Limited Edition Box Set" of "All the CD recordings from the 35-concert "Wave That Flag" 2004 summer tour" (https://www.munckmusic.com/wms/dead/index.html)

3). They've learned the lesson of iTunes, and you can now buy many of their "Vault" and "Dick's Picks" CDs as digital downloads.

So, they may suck, but all that means is that they're a pack of FILTHY RICH HIPPIES who suck. Plus, whoever is getting the "Jerry Garcia Estate" kickbacks receives a nice, regular, FAT check in the mail for doing

ABSOLUTELY

NOTHING.

9. Well you had better include all the old
greats in that list. At least the Dead aren't using their tunes to sell cars!

11. Not in my opinion
I think they still are good. I've seen the Dead 3 times after 1995, and enjoyed every time.

16. What was your last Jerry show?
Mine was in December, '94. I was a 'moran' and passed up June '95 thinking I was going to see them in the fall tour. sigh...at least my last show was incredible and I actually called the opener! (Shakedown Street)

I miss Jerry!!!:-(
