With Christ rising tomorrow, anyone else want to talk about
other mythological heroes also resurrecting?

I can think of Captain Spock, Captain Kirk, and Kenny from South Park.

(no disrespect or mockery is intentional. Jesus did die for us and our sins, but given how his birth date is a consistent 25 December 0000 yet his death date jumps around some Sunday between March and April for no reason, one has to wonder the basic notekeeping of the time.)

1. Actually, he croaked sometime in the fall
but the Catholic church thought moving his birthday to the same time as other pagan harvest festivals might convert a few more heathens to the cause way back in the day.

Yeah, easter is early this year. Next year, it'll be good and late in the spring.

4. Ah, yer computer date is off by about 1929 years or so...
He doesn't rise every year.

I think you're thinking of Fingle. Fingle rises in the storms of every equinox.

8. what do you mean by "other mythological heroes?"
To me, Jesus is not a myth.

As to Easter, the date is determined by the first full moon after the vernal equinox. (similar to, but not quite the same as Passover)

I see the varying date of Easter as a gift: it becomes harder for us to mass-market Easter. Christmas stuff appears in the stores as early as August. It keeps the corporate hounds at bay.

Thank you for your disclaimer.

14. To me, Jesus isn't either. But the issue regarding His death IS.
Nor has it prevented the mass marketing of; the constantly high selling peeps are living proof of that.

where do the peeps fit in?

Mass-marketing (no pun intended) is a vile American practice. I say, boycott the Easter Bunny!

19. Other rising myths
There is Osiris of Egypt. Dionysus of Thrace (Greece). Of course, some believe the Jesus is a composite of the two aforementioned gods. There is also Persephone, who is now released from the kingdom of Hades and rejoins Demeter, her mother. All of this happens about this time of year. :)
