Good God, are you really Cubs fans?
Edited on Wed Oct-15-03 08:21 PM by mkuhl
I'm seeing people screaming for Steve Bartman's blood.

Have you learned nothing from those zen masters of baseball, the Cubs?

Here's what I have learned. Often life is an intense, maddening struggle for absolutely no reward at all. And here in this somewhat surreal moment we learn another valuable lesson.

Often, when the fruits of our labors are within reach, they will be knocked from our hands, and the person who causes our dismay will have done so unwittingly. It's not personal.

Steve Bartman was doing what any one of us would have done in that situation. He did what Alou was doing and what was drilled into my head from my first Little League practice. He kept his eye on the ball and tried to make the catch. Granted it wasn't his job at the time, but some instincts are just hard to shut down, particularly if you love the game.

For God's sake, recognize Bartman for what he is, an agent of Cubs wisdom. Sometimes life treats you like shit, but you get up the next day and go at it again. Blame is counterproductive, it is what it is. Maybe tommorrow. Maybe next year. Eventually. Until then, enjoy the game.

I say this, of course, utterly convinced that it is tonight, and completely prepared to be wrong.

1. I'm so angry I've reached Zen nature through a back door.

3. Buddy, get some help
You seem to have a problem forming sentences. You might want to get that checked out.

4. its odd
I can understand the anger at Bartman for a while.

But I think the fans are letting the Cubs Pitchahs get off scot free.

He screwed up, but not 8 runs worth. Maybe 2 you can pin on the poor guy.

He's a die hard cubbie fan who wanted a keepsake from his dream season.

People who posted the names of his 13 year old players on the net should be summarily executed. Or at least fined.

6. good Cubs, are you really God fans?
or do ye' believe in that evil satyr billygoat?

Either way, dont blame a fan for the failure of your team.

Ifn' the cubs win tonight, and Jaysus by cripes I hope they do, for the sake of Bartman, I will say good job all around boys and blame none!

7. Good God, are you really telling me how to think?
I've been to more Cubs games in a week than you'll ever be in your life. Preach somewhere else.
