Okay, I need some help with a medical issue.
About a week and half ago, I posted that I had a lump in my throat--literally, not figuratively--and was waiting until I could have an ultrasound. Well, I had the ultrasound and have been diagnosed with multinodal goiter for now and am scheduled for a biopsy in mid April. The doctor did a blood test for thyroid hormone levels and the results were in the normal range. However, I am having what I would say are symptoms of hyperthyroidism--palpitations,feeling physically shaky, anxiety, and a weird rash on my leg sometimes. I've had some of these symptoms on and off for a couple of years now. Can you have a normal test result and still have these types of symptoms? I always have a hard time gauging how concerned I should be and if I should go to the doctor again or just wait till the biopsy appointment.

2. I believe thyroid tests don't always pick up on problems

but you might want to google for information and see what you find.

Some years ago I had an overgrown thyroid, but normal blood tests. They did lots of T3, T4, TSH tests and even did a radioactive scan but found absolutely nothing wrong. The goiter eventually shrank, but I still have trouble losing weight, and have little energy.

good luck with everything

Thanks. I was starting to think I was losing it here.

Oops, guess I am. Posted this under the wrong response, but I appreciate your feedback very much also.

5. Best wishes to you
If it weren't that the biopsy appt is so soon, I'd have answered different.

3. Are you a 50ish female?
One can have other thyroid abnormalities and thyroid chemistries will appear normal. I'd wait for the biopsy and also see a rheumatologist.
