elliott smith, who's music never got airplay but a few of his songs became famous from "good will hunting"...

anyone listen to elliott? it's so good. i've listened to his music since highschool and haven't stopped since. it's gotten me through some really tough times in my life...

it still amazes me how such a soft-singing guy can rock so much...

1. I enjoyed some of his work...
I always hoped that his belated solo success would have rubbed off on his old band Heatmiser, but it didn't. They were a great band.

3. Yeah, I learned of him after Good Will Hunting.
Love his music. He's got a vastly different feel than other uber-soft spoken (ie David Kitt). Very talented man.

5. Not sure what type of music you listen to normally...
..but there are a ton of artists in that mold that you might enjoy. The indie rock scene is full of regular guys with delicate voices and acoustic guitars.

7. Elliott was amazing
Really sad he's dead. From A Basement on a Hill is such a great album.

Figure 8 is probably my favourite album of his though.

8. He went to my church

when he lived in Duncanville, TX before moving west. He and I would have knock down drag-outs about which group was better, Rush or Pink Floyd. I was on Rush's side. He was on Pink Floyd's side. Then he stole my girlfriend. What a bastage! ;)

Seriously, though, his music was fine and he was sorely underappreciated. Too bad he did not feel good about himself.

P.S. He went by Steve when I knew him. He played guitar and I played bass.
