I consider myself a Christian, but I separate my beliefs from the beliefs of neo-cons who have hijacked my religion. When I make jokes, I am poking fun at the image they have of Jesus, not the true Saviour. I can only speak for myself, of course, but I have a feeling others are doing the same.

When I express disagreement with or say something about Christianity, and people say to me "how would you feel if I said (insert derogatory comment) about (insert non-christian religious figure here).

Huh? I wouldn't care then either. I'm an atheist. Do certain people think that atheist means I dislike christianity but other religions get me all warm and fuzzy?

Not saying this is necessarily what you were doing, but your post reminded me that people have done/said that to me on numerous occassions and it just confuses the hell out of me.

Where theres smoke theres usually fire. There must be a reason so many are critizing "some" christians. Instead of trying to silence people wouldn't it be more constructive to find the root of the problem and try to change it. Some things about it bothers a lot of people and they should be allowed to vent.

Why do you think the other religions are not bothering people so much? Do you think its just pick on Jesus week? I don't think so. Those are the questions you probably should be pondering
