The definition of 'gravimetric'
"Webster's Revised Unabridged Dictionary (1913)"
Gravimetric Grav"i*met"ric, a. (Chem.)
Of or pertaining to measurement by weight; measured by
weight. -- Grav"i*met"ric*al*ly, adv.

In Star Trek - the original series, episode "The Squire of Gothos", Mr. Spock asks for the gravimetric reading ot the planet.

Those of you who voted for The Next Generation in the poll below are wrong. (I also misspelled "gravimetric" and then misspelled it when 'correcting' it. :eyes: )

1. The Writers Probably Chose to Have Spock Say 'Gravimetric'
Edited on Sun Mar-13-05 06:00 PM by Sporadicus
because they had no damn idea what it meant, and probably thought it sounded like he was going to measure the gravitational pull of the planet.

On edit: I've used 'gravimetric analysis' in reports to give the impression of doing something really intricate & esoteric, when all I did was weigh some samples.
