RANT: Weatherman says 12 -24 inches of snow tomorrow in my area
Just what we need :eyes:

I just finished shoveling snow off our deck from the last pile of storms so it won't collapse. What makes things worse about that damn deck is the fact that it not only accumulates snow from the storms themselves but the previous owners of this house built it under the eaves where all the snow from the front side of the roof slide onto it.. :grr: I've had it. The deck is going to be moved this summer.

Sorry. Just had to get that off my chest... On the bright side, I got a heavy duty free workout

PS- How is the weather in your area? My sister In NJ told me that she's seeing some green grass and a few Crocus' poking up in the ground. Must be nice! The snow cover here is about 3 to 4 feet deep

4. I hate to tell you this but,
here in Minneapolis we've gotten way less snow than we normally do. The weather people wring their hands and almost apologize for the fact we're about 1' under the norm. Right now in my yard I can see bare grass and a few dirty snow piles from shoveling the driveway. That's it. Nothing is growing yet, tho. It's too soon for that!

Well, good luck with it -- just keep telling yourself that Spring is less than two weeks away!

7. We are expecting another 6-14 here in southern NH
As I type this, a mob of torch and pitchfork waving townspeople are gathering outside the WNDS station and chanting for Weatherman Al Kaprelian to come outside and get his due.

I've considered sacrificing a goat... anyone care to let this atheist know which weather god should be invoked? I am not up on my pantheon.

8. I truly wish we could ship you our spring
And take some of your precipitation. Mid 60's all weekend, sunny and beautiful. But this is Seattle, and it isn't supposed to be this way in March. The governor just declared a statewide drought yesterday. It's going to be one heck of a summer. :(

23. Are you far from Syracuse?
My daughter attends college there. This is her 2nd "Cuse" winter. She told me the snow and cold can get pretty bad there too...very much like Maine... She said some of the rich kids often go on to other schools because of it (On their parents dime of course).

One correction to your post though, if I may... Old Mainiacs say that we have THREE seasons... Summah, Wintah, and Mud {seasons} :-)

28. Was that the post with umpteen million replys?
Some kind of North vs South thing? If it wasn't that, I didn't see it. Actually I didn't see the N vs S one either because my computer is way to slow for large threads.

Anyway, can I :spank: you too? :-)
We won't see 68 here till mid to late April, and even then it will be an annomaly. Consistant weather in the 60's or 70's doesn't usually come till mid May.

I'd love to visit the South some day. The climate is only one reason.

Most every Southerner I've met is always SO polite. Once in 99, while on a legislator's conferance in Tucson, I met up with a Senator from Columbia SC and a Rep. from Alabama. After the conferance had ended we all had another night before our flights. We 3, as well as a Rep from Idaho and one from Missouri pooled our money and rented a car where we drove to Nogales, Mexico. I was the only woman of our group and BOY was I treated like a queen. They oppened car doors for me, escorted me across streets, ect. I have to admit that it felt very nice.

For awhile I worked as one of those "annoying" telemarketers (in order to support my political habit :-) ) I always hated it when the computer popped up a name from somewhere in the South. Especially if the Credit Card Co. I worked for was having us push a bad deal for people. It made me feel guilty taking up people's time. Most Southerners wouldn't hang up on me... they'd listen to my spiel and then politely say they weren't interested. I rarely heard any nastiness.

I guess I've gone way off track here but I want you to know that this Northerner thinks highly of you folks in the South... (despite the voting habits down there) I just wish we could pool togethor better when it comes to politics.
