Poll question: What do you want out of life?
The last time I did something like this, I left Love off, and what was even more depressing was that nobody noticed until I did 24 hours later. So I can tell you now for free that the right Other answer, quite definitely, is Love.

5. Luxury and relaxation (no financial worries)
I'm currently living on about $1050 a month. Where I live, the cost of living is cheap enough that I can deal with that monthly income. My aunt is in ill health and it is her disability income that supports both of us. I suffer from debilitating depression and other disorders. If I could get on disability to get my own $1050 a month coming in, life would be perfect. In other words, if I could have the financial safety net, I could continue to go to college and keep trying without the extra stress and worry of "will I be able to pay the rent, utilities, get groceries, etc.". That, at this point in my life, is my realistic goal.

On the other hand, if I could have anything I want out of life, of course, I'd want to win the lottery and get the girlfriend of my dreams to finally be with me. That would be the ultimate.

9. I found out how to "Be Happy"
I quit looking for Love and decided to ~ have fun ~ and now I'm happier.

But I checked "other" because "LOVE" is what life is all about and I've been lucky to have known love and have some wonderful memories until I find love again.

11. Similiar question posed by
The Tubes;

What do you want from life
To kidnap an heiress
or threaten her with a knife
What do you want from life
To get cable TV
and watch it every night

There you sit
a lump in your chair
Where do you sleep
and what do you wear
when you're sleeping

What do you want from life
An Indian guru
to show you the inner light
What do you want from life
a meaningless love affair
with a girl that you met tonight

How can you tell when you're doin' alright
Does your bank account swell
While you're dreaming at night
How do know when you're really in love
Do violins play when you're touching the one
That you're loving

What do you want from life
Someone to love
and somebody that you can trust
What do you want from life
To try and be happy
while you do the nasty things
you must

Well, you can't have that, but if you're an American citizen you are entitled to:
a heated kidney shaped pool,
a microwave oven--don't watch the food cook,
a Dyna-Gym--I'll personally demonstrate it in the privacy of your own home,
a kingsize Titanic unsinkable Molly Brown waterbed with polybendum,
a foolproof plan and an airtight alibi,
real simulated Indian jewelry,
a Gucci shoetree,
a year's supply of antibiotics,
a personally autographed picture of Randy Mantooth
and Bob Dylan's new unlisted phone number,
a beautifully restored 3rd Reich swizzle stick,
Rosemary's baby,
a dream date in kneepads with Paul Williams,
a new Matador,
a new mastadon,
a Maverick,
a Mustang,
a Montego,
a Merc Montclair,
a Mark IV,
a meteor,
a Mercedes,
an MG,
or a Malibu,
a Mort Moriarty,
a Maserati,
a Mac truck,
a Mazda,
a new Monza,
or a moped,
a Winnebago--Hell, a herd of Winnebago's we're giving 'em away,
or how about a McCulloch chainsaw,
a Las Vegas wedding,
a Mexican divorce,
a solid gold Kama Sutra coffee pot,
or a baby's arm holding an apple?

12. I want a proper Christmas pint of Guinness
pulled by a red-haired barmaid in a dark yet cozy pub somewhere in the west of Ireland. I want to sit down by a turf fire and listen to a four-piece traditional Irish band decide they want to try some Cajun tunes and just happen to be carrying my axe when they ask if there's another fiddler in the house this evening.

Then I want to be accosted by a gang o' rough girls who force me to smoke Cork weed and demand another three sets so's they can stepdance til they get sweaty and rude.

Lather, rinse, repeat.

from an email to a friend the other night:

all i want to do in this lifetime is heal my childhood wounds and have more fulfilling relationships. i also want my children to be happy and not emotionally traumatized like i was. i want them to feel loved. i want them to have happy, healthy lives. i want them to be 'mitici' - italian for 'mythical' as in awesome, loving, lovable, funny, warm, free-spirited, aware, and so on.

34. someone showed me a photo
of themself as a 3 yr old.

She said she always has the photo with her to look at and think of how that child should be treated as an adult... and she had a photo of her 3 yr old son next to it.

It was a light bulb moment.

31. My dear Amfortas,
I know next to nothing about you, but I know this much: You are NO looney! I completely agree with your statements in this thread. We all need to be OF life, not just a bead on a thread...And you are NOT just a bead on a thread. Very nicely put, BTW. If you find your love, and work that you can respect, then you are more than part-way into being OF life! It is when we feel our work in our hands as our core, then we are most intensely alive. And not just our work, either...I hope I'm making sense here. It's 10pm in CA, and I've been up since 4:15am! (I did have a nap, but still...)

I salute you!

29. I picked "other"
What do I want out of life? I have my love beside me, and my children are successful and happy. Beyond those things, I want to help people (that's why I'm a nurse) and I really want to see this country get back in the right direction ASAP. Yes, I think Love is what it's all about. If we love each other the way we love ourselves, then probably the world would be a much better place.

33. Adventure, I think, and Love, and Friendship, and
most of all Good Stories. And I want to get something I've written into an anthology that will be read by middle-school students a hundred years from now or so.

That's been my goal since I was a little kid. It hinges on my deep-down belief that the only thing I get to take when I go are memories, and on my desire to remember my name the next time I am a child.

37. Time
Time that I can spend on the internet or at the library delving into whatever topic piques my interest that day. Time that I can spend helping others. Time that I can spend enjoying a cup of coffee & a sunrise. Time that I can spend trying to create what might hopefully pass as art. Time that I can spend trying to plant a garden. Time that I can waste by napping the day away. Time that I can waste playing games all day.

Time that I don't have to waste slaving away at a dead end job.

although I'll settle for true love and huge wads of cash.

No, seriously, a general sense of happiness and contentment, knowing that I left the world a slightly better place than I found it, and the happiness of the people I love is all that really matters.

But I'll take the sex, drugs and Rock and Roll as well.
