The Judge let Michael off without even a slap on the wrist. There isn't
any justice. Talk about one law for the rich and one law for the poor! So much for the Judge who wouldn't tolerate this behavior! If this was n average person, either black or white, their ass would be in jail. But not MJ. Clearly he is as "special " as he thinks he is! This really pisses me off. This sends a really bad message.

1. I haven't been following this story, has MJ been found guilty?
What was the sentence?

5. He tried to skip Cout today due to a "bad back"! The Judge
put out a warrent for him and gave him an hour to show up or forfeit his 3 million dollae bail and be sent to jail for the duration. He didn't make the deadline. But the Judge, who was talking so tough, let it go and recinded the order!

2. Michael Jackson went AWOL from his child molestation trial Thursday
Mar. 10, 2005 - Michael Jackson went AWOL from his child molestation trial Thursday and was nearly jailed before he finally showed up more than an hour late, in his pajama bottoms and slippers, to listen to his accuser's second day of testimony.

The judge apparently did not punish Jackson for his tardiness, which his lawyer blamed on a serious back problem that required treatment at a hospital.

Jackson's late arrival occurred before his 15-year-old accuser testified about drinking liquor with the pop singer and looking at sex magazines with him. He also said he once saw Jackson walk in to the room naked.

The jury heard only brief remarks from Judge Rodney S. Melville about the drama that unfolded at the start of the day, when defense lawyer Thomas Mesereau Jr. announced Jackson's back problem.

Before Jackson showed up, the judge said he was issuing an arrest warrant and might revoke his $3 million bail. But he told the attorney he would hold the warrant for one hour to give the defendant time to get to court.

A distressed Jackson arrived a few minutes after the hour was up, walking gingerly into court wearing slippers, a suit jacket over a T-shirt and pajama bottoms a far cry from the carefully selected, flamboyant outfits he usually wears to court. As he walked toward the courthouse, Jackson turned around and waved at his fans.

"Mr. Jackson had a medical problem and it was necessary for me to order his appearance," Melville told jurors, adding that he didn't want the panel to draw any negative inferences from the developments.

6. And he was sick in all his other trials as well? And it was proven he lied
about the injuries he sustained when taken into custody? No. It never crossed my mind that he might be really sick. He is a professional malingerer.

8. I am obsessed with justice. I used to argue case with my parents , who

were lawyers. This contempt for the judicial system and not being treated "equally under the law" reallyirks me. I didn't follow the case at all until today and I only saw the results. I was disgusted.

10. No. I can't stand Nancy. I usually tend to side with the defendant.
My mother was a defense attorney. But Michael's behavior in court is beyond the pale. His behavior isn't "pretty! He may not be guilty of pedophilia but he is in contempt of court. And he shouldn't be let to walk. He should be forced to conduct himself like anyone else.

12. There was a mob boss who showed up in court in a bathrobe
But in all fairness, I should also point out that he wore a bathrobe whenever he went out in public. The defense said he didn't have the mental competence to be a mob boss; the prosecution said he was faking it. The judge said he'd better be wearing a suit the next time he appeared in court. The defense lawyer said his client didn't own a suit. The judge said, "THEN LEND HIM ONE OF YOURS!!!" The mob boss wore a jogging suit to court after that--and was convicted anyway.

13. You know you spend too much time at DU when...
you read the OP and think "what did JanMichael do? Why was he before a judge? Did I miss something?"

Or maybe the fact that I don't have a TV helps keep me from becoming pop media saturated.
