1. I would have been ten in 1962
About the same age as the boy in the picture. I could not even possibly consider that I would go out of the house in those shorts. What little fashion sense I had, still would have told me that they were not fit to be seen in.

2. Hey, those shorts...
... even have suspenders! :P

Now, if the plaid shirt had come with a bow tie, the picture would have been complete.... :)

5. You should have seen ME at 10.
I had the grenades, plus a toy rifle AND a helmet. Not to mention thousands of little plastic toy soldiers and a little Howitzer that shot real wooden shells. War was my favorite game at that age.

Even had army-surplus type equipment (army issue helmet, drilled-out grenade on my belt, etc).

I set up MASSIVE green toy soldier battles.

Played a lot of paintball as a teenager.

Even today I prefer military-like video games.

War is fun when you get to hide in your living room and not get hurt, and you are not hurting other people. I feel sorry for those who don't realize there is a difference, though.

9. Yep, I had all of that too...
But I still would NOT have worn those shorts.
