Are you into weird facts? Check out this website...
http://www.gullible.info/

"65 percent of NBC viewers can identify Law and Order star Sam Waterston by a photo depicting only his eyebrows."

Kinda funny, kinda scary.

Also try http://www.prognosticate.com if you are into cool word games. You pick from news story headlines, then you see the article and read it, but 20 words are missing from the article and you have to guess which word comes next when you come to a missing one. People who have the highest scores are posted on the main page in scrolling boxes. Wordsmiths, enjoy! Remember contextual clues!

1. Do I Have to be Gullible to Believe Something Posted on
"http://gullible.info"? Such as:
• The primary cause of death for male Swedes between the ages of 20 and 23 is venereal disease.

• Although it is never mentioned in the Bible, archeologists and religious scholars believe that Jesus was vegetarian.

• 84 percent of user-set combination locks are set to the owner's birthday.

• An adult Andean condor can fly while carrying a fully grown sheep over one mile.
I don't know if I buy some of these.

2. I don't know if I do either.
Especially that first one. Just interesting.

I'm trying to figure out who is posting these and what their methodology is, if anything...

5. Some of the Them Seem to Have a Point,
Edited on Fri Mar-04-05 04:37 PM by ribofunk
such as "60% of Chinese speak English, but only 20% speak Cantonese" (or something along those lines). There might be more English speakers than Cantonese, but I guarantee those specific numbers are wrong (unless maybe you include Chinese in the US).

I also know people who suspect Jesus might have been a vegetarian (partly because his brother was). But it is definitely not correct to say that "most scholars think...."

It sounds like he takes a plausible idea and then just makes up some number to go along with it.

On Edit: I like this one:

• By number, Americans constitute 4.6 percent of the world's population and seven percent by weight.

But having worked as a short-order cook, I guarantee this one is grossly wrong:

• 83 percent of fried eggs consumed in restaurants are ordered sunny side up.

6. Number 3 I believe...

just like passwords on a computer, somewhere around 80% of people will put either their birthday, or one of these 4: "God", "Jesus", Spouses Name/Children's name, or relative's birthday as a password. Never bet against the human capacity for stupidity, you will lose.
