Last night's episode of Lost...
Any thoughts? I enjoyed it. I don't mind if they don't advance or hammer home the whole "island mythology" angle of things (in fact sometimes I prefer it) as long as they develop the characters and flesh out the back stories and relationships, which I thought last night's did phenomenally well.

1. I love the back stories the best
The acting on that show is wonderful and the writing is top notched. Next week should be real interesting because they go searching for the others on the isalnd and it looks like they find them.

2. The show's creators were smart
They filmed all the episodes as a whole block, regardless of whether it was going to be successful, instead of filming a few episodes and, if the network picks it up, filming more as they are required.

Doing it this way assures that the storyline will follow the creators' wishes, not the network's. I'm seeing this problem with Desperate Housewives, where it doesn't have the same compact feel it had in its first episodes.

But, going back to Lost, the back stories are indeed great. I find it funny that all of these characters have "seen" each other in one way or another before they were on the plane.

This show keeps me hooked and in fact I can't wait for it to be Wednesday again. I am glad people are returning to scripted shows, instead of the "reality" (also scripted, but much more horrendous) shows.

3. How many episodes of popular shows use subtitles?
Most of last night's episode was in Korean. Fascinating, though.

Marooned with Mercutio & a Hobbit--who needs Reality TV?

4. Mercutio?
Is that couple Korean? I knew I would get it wrong. But I dont' recall catching any portion where they explicitly state where they are from.

5. Yes, they're Korean.
I'm not sure when it was stated, but other sites discussing the show have had fuller translations of their dialog--supplied by those who understand Korean.

"Michael" is played by Harold Perrineau, who was excellent as Mercutio in Baz Luhrmann's Romeo & Juliet.

6. Did you guy's notice in the scene where the Korean guy (Jin)
had to visit the politician to say that his father in law was dissapointed in him...did you notice the kid watching the TV in the living room and did you notice who was in the show she was watching? It was Hurley, the heavy set guy.

My 10 year old caught it, so I did a rewind on my Tivo and sure enough, it was Hurley in the scene. weird.

7. Whoa....I did not catch that.....
I've been wondering why he is the only one who hasn't been given an ounce of back story yet. Maybe that is the start of it.

What was he doing in the scene being shown on tv?

8. Supposedly, Hurley's episode is extremely important to the storyline.
I caught that from a few fan sites. From the looks of it, his episode may be next week.

9. Yep it was Hurley I rewound it to show my wife
He was getting in a car-I wonder if he gone to Korea or wherever to claim it. He was getting in the driver's seat so he wouldn't have been in custody.

Good catch there trumad

10. **** MILD SPOILER WARNING ***
From what I just read on the Television Without Pity Lost forum, Hurley's appearance on the TV does pertain to his back story. Obviously, it must be something big.

12. Well, some folks are sensitive about even the slightest bit of info.
So I thought I'd give a heads-up. I'm too curious.

13. I thought it was a great little trick to do
I think they did that with someone else someone passed by in someone else's backstory....maybe not

So is there an explanation of the plane wreck. Was it planned by someone? By whom?
