Question to you: Would this make a mayor BAD in your opinion?
Edited on Thu Oct-09-03 03:50 AM by Sean Reynolds
www.feduputah.com is a website made by conservative Republicans located in Davis County, Utah (noth of Salt Lake City). The website is trying to get support to oust current Salt Lake City mayor, Rocky Anderson. USA Today said Anderson was in fact the most liberal mayor of any large city in America. Though this site HOPED to kick Anderson out of office; all signs point to him getting re-elected next month.

Now tell me if this makes a mayor bad for supporting the following?

Created a feeling of divisiveness. The greatest example of this is the Main Street Plaza conflict. Rocky has flip-flopped on this issue and has yet to act on a plan to solve this issue that has divided residents of Salt Lake City and Utahns in general.

Joined the Sierra Club in a lawsuit to fight against the much-needed Legacy Highway.
Let the economic development of Salt Lake City slip through the cracks (highlighted by his showdown against Nordstrom).

Introduced a resolution in the Salt Lake City Council in opposition to and condemnation of Operation Iraqi Freedom.
Banned use of public lands in the foothills of Salt Lake City.

Tried to loosen Salt Lake City's liquor laws during the 2002 Olympics.

Repeatedly attempted to portray Salt Lake City as a "party town," before, during and after the Olympics. Most recently, Rocky took the media on a bar-hopping tour of Salt Lake City to dispel the notion that Salt Lake has no night life.
--------

Reason enough to say a mayor is 'bad for the city'?

reason enough for ME to vote for him. Good luck, Rocky!

on edit: anybody who tries to build up SLC as a party town deserves support for mere chutzpah.
