also took the subject-literature. It was hard. Good luck.

I kept thinking to myself, was I supposed to learn all this stuff in just four years?

8. Easiest? The "analyze this argument" essay, hardest? "quantitative"
The argument to analyze was a guy making recommendations based on an invalid comparison. Unfortunately if I reveal more information than that ETS will send a squad from Princeton to break down my door and give me a zero.

The math wasn't actually that hard, but it was a lot of adding fractions and factoring polynomial, so it was frustrating to me because this was stuff I learned (and haven't really used) since eighth grade.

13. lol... funny how the math - is high school (or earlier) math...
I found the analytical stuff the easiest as well... but have learned that this is rather unusual (many folks find the logic - esp when it gets to the point of... so farmer x can plant y, z, and a crops, but y and z can't be planted next to each other and... (three or four other conditions)...

I always found some of the verbal stuff the most oblique (oblique:obtuse as... pick the best match of the other pairs of words...) and frustrating. (Select the statement that is least supported by the previous passage...) ;-)

Congrats on getting it under the belt. :hi:

9. Buy one of those books
They generally have practice tests, and lots of good recomendations, and are about 3% the price of a prep-class which will tell you the same stuff.

14. I bought the essay workbook
and the verbal workbook (Kaplan)
I've done some good practice exercises and feel better about analogies--just unsure exactly when I need to jump in and finally take the damn thing.

23. I got the GRE software
for my computer--that was really handy. It's just like the actual test--complete with graphs to show you how you stack up against the averages. (at the time you recieved the software)

I was in a hurry, I had to pay for the download I couldn't wait for the stuff to get to me by mail. It knocked the rust off pronto!

Good luck

Good luck. Or I guess 'Congratulations' on getting over that hurdle is more appropriate now.

:toast:

I took that thing once upon a time, but my memory of it is so vague that I cannot think of anything much to ask.

16. graduate records exam
It's like the SAT to get into grad school. It's actually almost exactly like the SAT, but it's done on computers that learn how hard to make the questions it asks you.

20. Back in the early 1970s
it wasn't done on computers, and there were no photo driver's licenses...I made good money for a couple of years for taking the GRE for other people at $250 a crack (reasonable money for a day's work back then).

Not bad for a guy who never went to college, if I say so myself, and I do.

24. Ooooh I'll ask you a new one....
how many schools are you sending the results to? So far I've only applied to two colleges in my life; one undergrad, one grad, got accepted to both. The grad school bit, well it definitely helps to make contact with your would be advisor BEFORE applying, they can sort of "shepherd" your name through the selection process.
In closing: Go PALEO!

25. Were you happy with how you did?
I took mine last fall. It's nice getting the results back right away with the computer system (well, not the analytical writing part) so that you don't have to sweat the results for weeks. I actually had fun taking the GRE. (The General, anyway--the lit subject test? :scared:)

37. We have fish
We used to have a parrot, then I developed this incredibly bad alergy to it, where the whites of my eyes would get blistered. The only treatment is a steroid eyedrop that was $75 per 1.5 ml, and that hardly worked. So we had to give him up, I was really bummed :-(
